Viriya Children’s Welfare Fund

The Fund is set up largely to assist children and youth to realise their potential. In this regard, the Fund will

  • facilitate the provision of formal and informal education for children and youths through preschools, schools and tertiary educational institutions, including the provision of buildings and related educational facilities.

  • support education through the provision of prizes and scholarships.

  • advance the involvement of youths in subjects relating, in particular, to engineering, humanities or accountancy;

  • promote the development and education of youths through sport.

Currently there are two funds, namely:

Viriya - Shih Ping Scholarship & Bursary Award

The scholarship was set up in memory of the late Mr Tseng Shih Ping by his family members on 18th September 2003 to mark his 35th Death Anniversary. It is intended that this scholarship embodies Mr Tseng’s philosophy, particularly in the aspect of providing the additional means to lighten the burden of those deserving an education; however basic, can still contribute to an equal head start in life.

Viriya - Ong Kim Long Scholarship & Bursary Award

The late Mr Ong Kim Long passed away on 25 July 2010. In spite of his humble background and the lack of formal education, he wanted to ensure that every child will not be denied a good education due to financial constraints. Hence his family members donated every cent collected during their bereavement to embrace his value.
