WHFSC Walk-A-Jog and Family Day A plethora of smell, colour and taste surrounded us on that eventful Saturday morning at Labrador Park. Whispering Hearts Family Service Centre’s Walk-a-Jog-Family-Day was an unforgettable experience, with an appealing line of activities designed for the entire family. With a welcoming turnout by our clients, the participants were treated to a picturesque view of the sea, the tranquility of the surroundings and the historical significance of the park.
The “Family Challenge” promoted intergenerational bonding amongst the families and enabled them to catch a glimpse of the past, and to put their knowledge and agility to the test, as they explored the various stations and tasks. The “Drawing Competition” brought in a stream of art enthusiasts, aged 6 to 9 years old, craving to paint the beautiful outlook of Labrador Park. As their drawings showed immense creativity and fervor, they (drawings) were put up proudly for display at the FSC. Winners to the 2 challenges were awarded with handsome vouchers from NTUC and Popular Book Store.
The Walk-a-Jog-Family-Day also boasts of its free health screening provided by trained nurses from National Kidney Foundation (NKF), for all our clients, aged 18 to 65 years. For those seeking relaxation, they could sit back and enjoy the breeze and warm smell of the sea and greenery. At the close of the day, everyone was entertained with a dance performance by the youth from Dreams. Each family walked away with an attractive goodie bag and refreshments put together by our sponsors, National Youth Council, Teenage Magazine, Hansa Sagar Mills Pte Ltd, New Water, etc.
The event evoked strong teamwork in the families and more significantly, amongst the colleagues at the FSC. I am grateful to be given this opportunity to work with them. Last but not least, the FSC would like to thank everyone who is involved in making this event a success. You may look forward to better and more exciting events in 2007.
