Club Fidentia Leadership Training (Outdoor Experiential Outing) Treetop Walk @ MacRitchie 19 July 2008
ABOUT
Treetop Walk @ MacRitchie is a free-standing suspension bridge (25m above the ground) and it provides a bird eyes’ view of the forest located at MacRitchie, part of Singapore’s Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
THE IDEA
The Treetop trail was chosen as part of Club Fidentia’s Leadership Training because not only does it provides challenging trekking routes but they also learnt about Singapore’s forest eco-system, essential relationship between the forest and its habitants such as the monkeys, plants, insects and birds.
A total of 22 youths together with 2 volunteers and 2 facilitators from Club Fidentia participated in this experiential outing.
THE CHALLENGE & THE TASK
All youths of aged 13 to 18 were split into 4 groups. A challenging task was given to everyone in the group. Each of them was to encourage and motivate each other to complete the Treetop trail while holding an egg in their hands, written with motivational and inspirational words on it. The group with the most number of eggs left will win the “Most Motivated Group” award.
* Motivated youths overcoming obstacles in their paths by providing support and encouragement to each other
* Say cheez! Youths of Club Fidentia smiling on the Treetop bridge
* Break time & Debrief
After everyone had a great lunch, we proceed to conduct a debrief session with our youths and asked them what they had learnt from this experiential outing.
All the youths learnt and agreed that leadership qualities and team spirits go hand in hand. No one should be left to struggle on his or her own.
* Group Photo: We are all winners!
Although some of the youths broke their motivational eggs but they had all done well by completing the entire Treetop Trail of 7km within 3 hours!!!
At the end of the experiential activities, leadership qualities, motivational skills and team bonding were displayed among the youths.
