This time round, everyone was well-prepared with jackets and their sleeping bags. |

Independence Day celebration04 July 2009Youth members and their parents, together with Dreams staff Aunty Patricia and overseas volunteer Joanna Klak, attended the Independence Day celebration at PSA Sembawang Wharfes. Tree-top Walk25 July 2009 (2.30pm - 5.30pm)Our youths had an enjoyable time on a Saturday afternoon for a walk close to the nature. Other than the well-known tree-top walk, they also visited the tomb of Mr Lim Bo Seng. The walk took 3 hours. Although exhausted, they agreed that it was an eye-opening and fun walk. Most of them were there for the first time. |

HomeCreation 200926 September 2009This year marked the fourth year of HomeCreation, which saw more than 400 residents of Kolam Ayer Constituency benefited from the project. About 40 units in Geylang Bahru, block 61 and 62 were refurbished (paint and/or clean). The entire project from planning to execution involved 200 students from Raffles institution. The day ended with a 8-course dinner at Kolam Ayer CC as well as performances from RI and youths from Dreams. We would like to thank everybody who has made this project a success. We will be back for HomeCreation 2010! |
Children For Children @ The Singapore ZOO30 September 2009Happy children’s day to all our youths! Our youths celebrated Children’s Day in the Singapore Zoo. Children For Children@ The Singapore Zoo is specially curate to provide a once in a lifetime Children’s Day experience where our youths were involved in a multitude of creative and arts activities that aim to bring greater awareness of Nature and the wonders of the animal kingdom. Needless to say, our youths had a fun and educational day. Special thanks to The Business Times Budding Artists Fund for sponsoring this event. |

CAMP SOLA 2009 (Combat Jeering, Cheer)4-5 December 2009CAMP SOLA is an annual camp event organized for youths from Dreams. This year, with the help of NIE student teachers, we aimed to motivate and improve self-esteem of these youths. The camp was carefully planned and executed by NIE student teachers and our youths had a fantastic time. They went home, not only with the their bags full of goodies, but also many memorable memories and valuable lessons. Thank you teachers for all your effort and sacrifices! In addition, we would also like to thank all our volunteers and CDL for co-sponsoring part of the cost incurred for the camp. |
Xmas day Celebration with KPMG23rd December 2009Our youths had an early Christmas celebration with volunteers from KPMG. The event, which lasted 3 hours, was filled with games, food and lots of activities. Every youth received a goodie bag at the end of the day, packed by KPMG volunteers. We would like to thank all of them for their sacrifices and for the joy they brought to our youths. |

Cinema @ Dreams29th Jan 2010January will be the start of Dreams monthly Cinema where youths are brought together to watch a movie and to do a overall reflection at the end of the show. For January, our youths were shown a thai show called “My girl” which shows the strong bond and friendship between two children. Youths were given drinks and ice cream to be consume during the show. The youths enjoyed themselves and are already looking forward to the next session!
Back-to-school packs for our youths!Jan 201035 youths from Dreams@Kolam Ayer were fortunate enough to receive a back-to-school pack which consisted of shoes, socks and bags, kindly sponsored by KPMG. This back-to-school packs will prepare the youths to receive a new academic year. The youths and parents were grateful for KPMG’s generosity. |

City Square Mall’s March Holiday Performance16th March 201020 youths from Dreams@Kolam Ayer were invited to a magical performance titled “World of Toys” at City Square Mall main atrium. The youths entered a journey of magic, illusion and fun. Dinner were provided for them and they enjoyed themselves. We would like to thank CSR and City Sunshine Club for inviting our youths from Dreams @ Kolam Ayer to their event and for sponsoring bus and food.
Sharing & Caring Get-together20th March 2010Sharing & Caring is a food ration programme for the low-income families staying around Dreams@Kolam Ayer. 50 families were invited to this lunch event. The families mingled around themselves while enjoying the delicious food prepared by one of our beneficiary. In addition, the performances put up by Damai Secondary School kept them entertained throughout the meals. |

Amazing Race @ National Geographic Store06th June 201025 youths were invited by Olympus for a fun and exciting ‘Amazing Race’ at National Geographic Store. There were a total of 30 youths fought for the top prize of 1 brand new Olympus Camera. Even though our youths did not walk away with the top prize, they walked away with a fun-filled experience and free Mcdonalds meals. Dreams @ Kolam Ayer would like to thank Olympus for the invitation to join the event.
Viriya Children Medical Fund - Disbursement26th June 2010Viriya Children Medical Fund first disbursement was carried out on 26th June 2010. Great performances from Northland Secondary School and Dunman Secondary school were lined up for the beneficiaries as well as youths and families from Dreams @Kolam Ayer. 15 families from KK Hospital received $1000 cash to aid in their financial situation. The event ended with buffet dinner provided for all beneficiaries and guests. Viriya Community Services would like to thank KK hospital for their generous support for the event. |

Shout, Jump, Jam 201011th July 2010Dreams @ Kolam Ayer annual event returned with a blast. With performers like Monochrome, RI students, students from Northland Secondary School and youths from Dreams@Kolam Ayer, the audiences were thoroughly entertained by their performances. Although some performances were still rough, this experience will serve as a foundation for greater performances in the future. Dreams @ Kolam Ayer would like to thank the RI boys for their effort and great assistance during the event. |

SYOG village tour23rd August 2010Singapore Youth Olympic Games Village is at NTU where the athlete youths stayed. The athlete youths were also encouraged to be involved in other activities during their free time to interact with youths from other countries. Dreams @ Kolam Ayer were much honored to be invited for a tour around SYOG village and a chance for the youths to interact with the athletes. The highlight of the event was the drumming session with the athletes which taught the youths that music has no barrier in countries. The youths enjoyed themselves and took photos with the athletes for remembrance. |

Octoburst01 October 2010Some 19 members of Dreams Children Club attended ‘Octoburst’ at the Esplanade on 1st October 2010. This event was held in conjunction with the Children’s Day celebration. Children, together with their parents and siblings, were escorted from the Esplanade to view their artworks at the art gallery. The Dreams members’ artworks were created during a workshop session held earlier at Kolam Ayer Community Club. The children, with the assistance from the volunteers of Sanofi-Aventis Singapore Pte Ltd, created 3-D sculptures which were then juxtaposed by participating artists to form story portraits out of them. After which, the children and their family members were escorted to the Esplanade theatre studio to watch a play, titled ‘Xi Gua - Watermelon Girl and the Legend of the Lion’. After the play, Dreams children members and their family members were invited to the ‘Green Room’ for their tea reception together with the volunteers and staff of Sanofi-Aventis Singapore Pte Ltd. Dreams @ Kolam Ayer would like to thank Sanofi-Aventis Singapore Pte Ltd for sponsoring to bring the children and their family members to Esplanade and spend an eventful Children’s Day afternoon there.
Children’s Day at City Square Mall01 October 201043 Dreams @ Kolam Ayer’s children are very fortunate to spend their Children Day’s celebration at City Square Mall. A group of volunteers from City Sunshine Club, established by property developer, CDL, organized a series of exciting activities for them. The day started where the children were taught the art of making sushi at Sushi The, followed by a scrumptious lunch. After which, the children spent the rest of their time bonding and playing video games at the Timezone. We would like to thank all those who volunteered for their continued love to the less fortunate in the society. |
